What do you need?

What do you need?

You will need your company key

Every company has a company key.

They were first introduced in February 2002 and now every new company incorporated receives information regarding their company key along with their certificate of incorporation.

Company keys were introduced to extend the range of online transactions offered by the Companies Office.  The seven-character company key is a type of password that is used to authenticate online transactions.  The company key prevents anyone else from tampering with your company details.

The company key is only needed for online services, it is not required when you file paper documents with the Companies Office.

Your company key allows you to authenticate a range of FREE online transactions such as:

  • Submit your annual return
  • Update company address details
  • Update company director details
  • Update company shareholder details
  • Update share total and share parcels
  • Change you company name
  • Amend or register a company constitution

You need your company key whenever you see the company key icon - [icon] Company key.

With the exception of director appointments (where you need to submit a paper consent form signed by the new directors) the company key allows you to update all these records at your convenience 24/7.
