Shareholder Search
You are also able to locate company information by using the name(s) of a shareholder. Shareholder Searches work in the same way as Director Searches.
Step-by-step instructions
There are two options available to you for conducting a Shareholder Search.
1. Quick Search
Use the Quick Search option to view instant results on screen or for a broad search before refining your search criteria for a Standard Search.
Where a company has been removed from the Register (struck off) it will not be included in the results list. It is not possible to print the search results in the Quick Search results box.
2. Standard Search
Use the Standard Search to receive a report by e-mail. Other features of this option include the ability to customise your search by specifying body type (to select New Zealand Companies, Overseas Companies or both) and body status (for example, Liquidation, Registered, etc). Check the current settings to ensure you receive the information that you require.
Note | You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed to view or print the search report sent to you via email.
Important information
When using the shareholder search tool it is important to note that:
- Our database does not contain historical details of shareholders
- Although companies can now choose to update our records whenever shareholding details change, many companies may continue to notify us of such changes only when they file their Annual Return each year.
- The official Share Register is held by the company not the Companies Office.
- Where companies have more than ten shareholders, they may not have supplied a complete list of the shareholders.
